Solar PV and Battery Storage

All Phase Electrical contractors are proud installers of solar panels and battery storage equipment for both domestic and commercial premises. We are registered members of the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), an independent standards organisation, and the Renewable Energy Consumer Code (RECC), which sets out high consumer protection standards for businesses that sell renewable energy generation systems to domestic consumers.

The RECC is approved by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute as part of the Consumer Codes Approval Scheme and is also a TrustMark Scheme Operator. All Phase’s memberships of these schemes enable us to ensure that you are actually paid for any excess power that you generate from your solar panels and do not consume.

Whether you are looking to simply reduce your monthly energy bills or reduce your carbon footprint, All Phase are the perfect choice for you. With our combination of experienced, professional installers and selection of high-quality materials and components, you can have full confidence in the longevity of your solar installation and your investment.

How do solar panels work?

Solar panels harness the radiation produced by the sun by using photovoltaic (PV) cells which contain a semi-conductor material that converts solar radiation into electricity, even on cloudy days. The electricity produced by the panels can then be used to power your home or business, or battery storage system. Once the panels and accompanying electrical system have been fitted, they produce no waste or harmful carbon emissions.

How does battery storage work?

A battery storage system stores chemical energy and converts it to electricity in a process known as electrochemistry. It can be charged from sources such as solar PV systems or even the electricity grid already connected to your home or business premises.

What are the advantages of solar panels?

They reduce your energy bills

One of the biggest advantages of solar panels is that they reduce your monthly energy costs. Your panels will produce electricity during daylight hours and, instead of importing power from the National Grid, you use the electricity you produce. To make even more savings, you can combine your PV installation with a battery storage system.

They lower your carbon footprint

By using solar panels, you are using a green renewable energy source to produce electricity with zero carbon emissions. The electricity harvested from your solar panels takes away demand from the National Grid and the need to produce electricity elsewhere from fossil fuels.

You can be paid for any excess energy produced

After consuming what you need from your PV installation, you can sell back any excess energy produced and actually be paid by your provider for doing so.

Installation is quick and easy

Solar PV installations are simple to fit to any type of building and can be up and running in as little as a few days, so you can start reaping the benefits quickly.

Process from receiving a quote to installation.

Simply fill out our online contact form with your address and contact details

After a short phone call with yourself, we can issue an estimate for the works discussed

If you are happy with the estimate, we would carry out a free site survey to confirm all details within the quotation

Finally, we would take a deposit for the works and once we have received this book in a date to install your PV system

We accept:

Frequently asked questions about solar panels and battery storage

Can solar panels help to generate free hot water via my existing water cylinder?

Yes, they can. As your solar PV installation is producing electricity, any power produced will automatically be used within your property. You can also use products such as the Eddi – a new and reliable power diverter that works by using any excess energy your solar PV array generates and redirecting it to heat your water tank. you want to power first.

Can I use my electric vehicle to charge my storage batteries or vice versa?

Yes. It is possible to use your car to charge your home storage batteries with your electric car, which in turn can power your home. Charging your car and batteries at night, when you may have a cheaper energy tariff, is a great way to save money because you can then use the power in the day when tariffs are higher.

Can I view/control my solar/generation equipment remotely?

All of the solar and battery systems we install come with a free app with which you can not only amend settings and see in real time what energy you are using and producing, but also record and store the data for you to review when needed.

Do I need planning permission or structural calculations done before I have solar panels installed?

Most solar PV installations fall within the scope of permitted development and therefore do not need planning permission. However, there are some exclusions, such as if your home is a listed building or in a conservation area. However, All Phase can guide you through any special requirements or planning applications needed.

Can I use battery storage without solar panels?

Yes. Installing batteries on their own is still a great way to save money on your monthly bills. If you have an Economy 7 energy tariff, you can charge your batteries during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper to buy from the grid, then use the stored power during peak hours to save money.

How do I know how much energy I will generate from a solar array before its installed?

Before any quote is accepted, we will provide you with a forecast of what your array should yield. This will consider the type of solar PV panels used, daylight hours throughout the year, amount of shade near your property and many other factors. Although this is a projection and cannot guarantee exactly what your PV array will produce because weather is a significant factor, it does give you a very good indication as to what you should expect.

Do you offer a payment scheme or accept payments by credit card?

Unfortunately, we do not offer a payment scheme. Customers can pay by both bank transfer and even credit card.

Are there any grants to help me with my solar installation?

Although limited, a few grants are currently available. To check your eligibility, please visit the Federation of Master Builders’ website at: https://www.fmb.org.uk/homepicks/solar-panels/solar-panel-grants/

Do my solar panels need maintenance?

Solar panels are virtually self-sufficient and once installed will not need much attention. We would recommend a maintenance check every five years to just make sure that everything is still safe and working efficiently as possible. However, we do recommend having your panels cleaned more frequently, depending on your location.

For instance, being Sussex-based, we install a lot of solar panel systems close to the sea, which means that airborne salt can stick to the panels and reduce their efficiency.

All Phase can advise you on your personal requirements depending on your location.
